carex: garden design by carolyn mullet

I design & build gardens and this blog is about all things landscape and garden that can influence garden making. My bias is toward the clean, straight forward, and spare but I can be seduced as much as anyone by the sensuality of nature. However, what I post will be about more than the pretty, precious, and nostalgic. We'll see how well I do. And "Carex"? It's a sedge frequently used in planting native gardens. I like it very much.

Roof Terrace in New York City. Fermob table and bistro chairs. And that arbor. It looks flimsy but must be able to withstand gale force winds. Is steel reinforcing the wood beams? Note the Astro Turf. If you’ve gotta have ‘lawn’, here you’re gonna have to fake it. I don’t approve.
