I design & build gardens and this blog is about all things landscape and garden that can influence garden making. My bias is toward the clean, straight forward, and spare but I can be seduced as much as anyone by the sensuality of nature. However, what I post will be about more than the pretty, precious, and nostalgic. We'll see how well I do. And "Carex"? It's a sedge frequently used in planting native gardens. I like it very much.

The courtyard at Casa Gaspar in Zahara, Spain. Designed by Madrid architect Alberto Campo Baezo in 1992. I think this space is beautiful but that little tree bothers me. Couldn’t they have gotten one appropriately scaled? I did try hard to find a later photo that would show a more mature tree. Failed.
