’Angel Oak’ is said to be the oldest living thing east of the Rocky Mountains. It’s a native (duh!) Live Oak that sprouted 1000 years before Columbus reached the new world. Located on John’s Island in Charleston, South Carolina, it’s 65’ tall with a 160’ spread.

This is our Angel Oak. The City of Charleston stole this from it’s private owner. It’s estimated at 1500 years old. And yes, it’s alive.
